Flowers in the Mirror – The Witch Kingdom

Here is my master's work in character design, based on an oriental fantasy story originated from an ancient Chinese novel-Flowers in the Mirror.
(The royal family claims to be the offspring of a great witch, who took a sacred bird, then landed on this island during a solar eclipse to establish the Witch Kingdom. Therefore, they worship the Bird God, the sun, and fire, and the pattern design was based on these elements. The colors are mainly black, white, red, yellow, and gold.)

The current queen(the villain) is also a witch , she is the Prince’s aunt, beautiful but ruthless. A tall, gorgeous bird-like crown, a covered face, and thick soles, these characteristics symbolize kingship, mystery, and hierarchy. The costume design idea is inspired by ancient Chinese and Japanese clothing: multi-layers, heavyweight, many decorations, and the bottom of the clothing are mopping the floor. Most of the body may be tightly wrapped. On the other hand, I think her appearance could be very exaggerated (eg. large wing shape, arc, round...), because she would emphasize her pure blood of the witch, which is suppression or provocation for the half-blood prince.
